Star Citizen - Multiplayer Map - “the good doctor”

Overview

My main tasks were to create a new multiplayer map for the - star marine multiplayer mode.

The main requirements were it was to take place on a planet, with an interior and exterior gameplay, starting with 5v5 deathmatch.

Due to being on the project for a short time, I only had time to create the interior blockout section, involving some early internal play testing.

Level Design & Building

  • Adjust level geometry to improve player movement flow, sight lines, balancing pacing.

  • Refine level geometry built using custom modular library and assets

  • Work with a level artist to make sure the overall vision was met.

  • Colour coding visuals for walls, cover areas, POIs

  • Place level objects and cover points.

  • Place spawn points.

  • Place weapon and health pickups

  • Place lighting to aid player navigation

  • Creating Blockout using in-house geo-level creation tools

Scripting

  • Implemented cover and climbing system points/navigation.

  • Checkpoint markers for other game modes.

  • Mission objective setup.
